The Halifax neuroscience community is fortunate to have one of the most powerful human MRI scanners in the world right in our backyard. The Neuroimaging Research Laboratory is a satellite lab of the National Resarch Council Institute for Biodiagnostics (IBD-Atlantic) is home to a Varian 4 T MRI system, along with an MR-compatible eyetracker, an MR-compatible 64 channel EEG system, and a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) system.

As well, a GE 1.5 T clinical scanner is available for research use. This is located at the IWK pediatric hospital and is equipped with an 8 channel head coil allowing for parallel imaging and DTI.
